Event Details

Insect pollination contributes hundreds of millions of pounds to the UK economy. Oilseed rape, beans, tomatoes, strawberries and many other crops are pollinated by these insects. Yet domesticated honeybees suffer from both diseases and habitat loss while bumblebees also suffer from dramatic loss of habitat.

This dialogue between bee experts and land managers will explore why these problems have arisen, what steps are already being taken to help, and what more can be done. It will be useful for council employees, school managers, allotment managers, golf-club estate managers and others engaged in the management of land. It is being run in conjunction with a public awareness campaign and event (see below).

Programme for 11 March 2008

It will be held in the Wedgewood Room, Beaumont Hall, Stoughton Drive South, University of Leicester, LE2 2NA. There is a map of the event venue here.
